Before you get deep into any other article about the best leather jacket brands, let me start off by saying there is no true measured distinction to date on the TRULY best brands. I know because I’ve done my research.
Full Disclosure: Most of the articles you’ll see online are promoting leather jacket brands based on rankings from average users or even what they believe to be the best brands in a particular region.
I am not here to debunk these posts. I do, however, want readers to know that it’s up to YOU to find the best leather jacket brands FOR YOU. You’ll know from one of my earlier posts about Cheap Leather Jackets that the best jacket for you is one where it does well in fit and cut, durability, and cost. Finding the right brand that encompasses these qualities is no different.
But what if you don’t know where to start? What if you’re looking to get a glance at some of the most popular leather jacket brands? What if you’re a veteran and want to expand your brand collection?
This is where my research comes in on the best leather jacket brands I’ve seen and experienced to date.
P.S. – This is in no particular order.
Vanson Leathers is a motorcycle racer leather jacket brand known for making the toughest leathers on the market. Because of this, the company has a strong following both international and domestic, and is very commonly bought by professional racers or those looking for a serious night out. Check out one of their Classic Leather Jackets.
Best known for making a statement in fashion, Gucci is an Italian luxury brand that gives you the perfect way to do it. Gucci was founded in 1921, giving those of past and present almost 100 years of experienced fashion and leather goods. Its signature double-G symbol along with outstanding red and green bands are hard to miss, and this brand has built a reputation for its genuine leather jackets to be for those who avoid conforming to the norm. Check out Gucci’s Leather Bomber Jacket.
Coach is another iconic brand steeped in the history of luxuy fashion and leather making. The American company sells leather jackets combining styles such as aviation, varsity, and vintage America. Their Moto Jacket is inspired by vintage biker styles, and is constructed of featherweight lambskin with a feeling of comfort as soon as you try one on.
4. Brunello Cucinelli
Brunello’s story to rising success attracted me to speak to his Italian luxury brand. Brunello began his life without many resources, such as electricity and running water, yet built his brand that stands today in style and luxury. According to sources, he also donates 20% of his profits through the Brunello Cucinelli Foundation. Knowing who stands behind a brand is important, and knowing a founder who built a company up from his bare hands shows the dedication that he is willing to put behind the quality and work of this brand. Not to mention, Esquire maganize even named Brunello Cucinelli one of the top ten best dressed men alive in 2017. Take a look at his Full-Zip Bomber Jacket.
5. Harley Davidson
Nothing can be more iconic and fitting to the classic and traditional leather jacket than Harley Davidson. With a deeply sewn history behind bringing together motorcycle riders to celebrate and share their lives on the road with their Harley Davidson motorcycles, many wearers will feel the unique culture and sense of belonging with their leather jacket. Check out their Triple Vent Leather Jacket.
6. Tom Ford
Tom Ford is known for extravagant tuxedos and suits, though its name also has an arm in high fashion leather. However, the secret touch that Tom Ford brings is a more vintage element that is ripe for pairing with your favorite pair of pants or shoes. The American label isn’t cheap, so it’s one set out for some of your most important days and nights out. Check out Tom Ford’s Leather Biker Jacket.

7. Wilsons Leather
One of the most awesome things about Wilsons leather jackets is that they have a wide selection of brand-name leather jackets such as Andrew Marc New York as well as their own brand. I’ve seen myself walk into their stores more than often to compare their leather and see what new sales are happening. The one thing I don’t like is they often have the same sales on the same brands like Guess. This doesn’t take away from the selection they have though, from faux leather jackets to genuine leather jackets. Wilsons leather jackets are also great-fitting and comparable to other top brand leather jackets, which earns them, from my opinion, a spot on the list.

A UK brand that knows how to make a supreme leather jacket, Belstaff is known for its motorcycle apparel and top celebrities who wear them, such as David Beckham and Brad Pitt. This makes the brand solid in its iconic status and quality fit for the top people in fashion today. Check out their head-turning Gangster Leather Jacket.
I mentioned AllSaints in a past post on the Top Styles in Leather, and the brand comes up again as a solid contender in the grungy and moody aesthetic that places itself among the most popular leather jacket brands. This UK brand crafts some of the sleekest leather jackets, with designs that scream attitude. If you want a little rough around the edges sort of look that tells others to watch out for your personality, AllSaints makes it happen.
10. Saint Laurent
Look no further in premium leather jacket ware than Saint Laurent. With buttery-soft Italian leather and a slim-fit silhouette, this French fashion house spares nothing to make it renowned for creating luxury goods. The brand today dives into modern styles with collections that pay homage to its founding principles of youth and freedom. Saint Laurent’s deep history of crafting leather jackets shows within their sharp cuts and even sharper detailing. Similar to Tom Ford, their leather jackets are in the higher end of prices. Check out the brand’s Moto Biker Jacket here.
Schott is the name that started it all in leather jacket ware when Marlon Brando wore the “Perfecto” leather biker jacket in The Wild One in 1953. The company began in 1913 when Irving Schott and his brother peddled fur lined raincoats and leather jackets door to door in NYC, and the family has been hand-making jackets ever since. If you’re looking for a leather jacket rooted in its beginning stages of evolution, Schott is the one.
Make the Best Brand Your Brand
There are literally hundreds of leather jacket brands to choose from, and as I said before, there isn’t a truly measured distinction that separates only a select few leather jacket brands from others. There are, however, a good number of the most popular brands that are well known for their dedication to quality, fashion, and history. The brands above give a small but good taste into this area.
